Marie Case Denick – University of North Carolina Gymnastics

Marie Case Denick is the Associate Head Coach of the University of North Carolina gymnastics program, a role she was elevated to in 2024 after spending more than eight years as a vital part of the Tar Heels’ coaching staff. A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Denick began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, Kent State, in 2015, before making her way to Chapel Hill. As a competitor, she was a three-time MAC Gymnast of the Year (2012–2014), MAC Freshman of the Year in 2011, and the conference’s all-around champion as a junior and senior, also qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the all-around in 2014.

Since joining UNC, Marie Case Denick has built a reputation as one of the program’s most impactful figures. She served as interim head coach during the 2020–21 season and has guided multiple All-America honorees throughout her tenure. In UNC’s first ACC season in 2024, she served as the primary bars coach and led Lali Dekanoidze and Isabelle Schaefer to a 1-2 finish on the uneven bars at the ACC Championships.
